Document Legalization in Thailand

Please note that apostille is not available in Thailand. An apostille is an internationally standardized form certifying the authenticity of a document, recognized by countries that are parties to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents (1961).

Thailand is not a party to this Convention.

There are two possible ways to confirm the validity of documents issued in Thailand:

— Notarization
There are no notaries in Thailand as such. Functions equivalent to notarization may be performed by licensed lawyers.
Notarized documents may be accepted abroad in certain cases. However, if formal legalization is required, the second option must be used.

Legalization of documents issued in Thailand:

A) Translation and certification of the original documents at the Legalization Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

B) Legalization of documents at the consulate of the Russian Federation or another country for which the legalization is required

C) Translation from English into Russian (or another language) and certification of the translation by the consulate

Powers of attorney for the purchase/sale of real estate and other actions in your country of citizenship are recommended to be issued at your consulate.
