Obtaining a Retirement Visa in Thailand: Step-by-Step Guide

Retirement Visa is a long-term visa designed for foreigners aged 50 and above who wish to live in Thailand on a permanent or long-term basis.
We offer two options for obtaining a retirement visa.

Option 1: Obtaining a Retirement Visa in Thailand

Main requirements:

  • Applicant’s age: 50+
  • A bank account in Thailand (Bangkok Bank or Krungsri Bank). If You do not have a bank account — please inform our manager
  • Minimum balance: THB 800,000 maintained for the last 3 months prior to application. If the required balance is not available — please inform our manager
  • Application must be submitted no later than 25 days before the expiration of the current visa/stamp
  • Mandatory visit to the Immigration Office for photographing

Required documents:

  • Passport (original)
  • Bank book (original)
  • Photo in digital format (white background)
  • TM30 residence registration certificate

Important:
Your passport will remain at the Immigration Office for up to 1.5 months.

Obligations:

  • Register Your place of residence
  • Confirm Your address every 90 days (90-day report)
  • If leaving Thailand, You must obtain a re-entry permit in advance, otherwise the visa will be cancelled
  • You must remain in Thailand until the visa process is completed

Option 2: Obtaining a Retirement Visa at the Thai Consulate in Moscow

Requirements:

  • Age: 50+
  • Available only for citizens of Russia and Belarus
  • Application submitted at the Thai Consulate in Moscow
  • Visa type: Multiple Entry
  • The visa cannot be extended within Thailand

Required documents:

  • Scan of all passport pages
  • Photo (4×6 cm, white background, digital format)
  • Bank statement in English showing a balance of at least THB 800,000 (or equivalent) for the past 3 months
  • Medical certificate (confirming absence of prohibited diseases)
  • Insurance certificate issued in the required format (signed and stamped by the insurer)
  • Health insurance issued by a Thai or foreign insurer:
    • covering general illnesses, including COVID-19
    • minimum coverage: USD 100,000 or THB 3,000,000
  • Police clearance certificate

Please note:

  • This visa does not require a re-entry permit — You can freely enter and leave Thailand
  • After arrival, You must:
    • register Your place of residence
    • confirm Your address every 90 days (90-day report)
